What to Expect
During Your Newborn Session
Your newborn session will take place in my Mt Barker home studio. The best age for a newborn session is between 5-14 days old. At this age baby is usually still quite flexible and tends to be more sleepy and relaxed, after this age things like colic and baby acne can flare up. You are welcome to contact me during your pregnancy so I can tentatively book you in and after baby is born contact me to book your session time.
I recommend that if you are breast feeding to avoid any foods that might give your baby wind for 24 hours prior to your session, this will increase the chances of a happy, settled baby.
Wear cool, comfortable clothing as the studio will be nice and warm for the comfort of your baby. If parents and siblings are to be included in some images, neutral colours and tones always photograph well and please avoid logos and patterns on shirts. It is always a good idea to bring an extra set of clothes just in case there are any small accidents.
Please arrange child care for any siblings as my studio space is too small to accommodate them, it also helps the session to run smoother and gives mum a chance to relax and enjoy the quiet of the session. If siblings are to be included in some images I will photograph them first and then a parent or grandparent is free to take them home or even to the local park.
Allow plenty of time for feeding and comforting your baby during your session so plan to be here for between 2-4 hours. I recommend bringing a snack with you in case you get hungry during this time.
I have plenty of props for you to choose from and like to involve you in the styling of the session. If you have a special item you would like me to incorporate please feel free to bring it along.
In the meantime if you have any questions regarding your baby's session please don't hesitate to contact me on 0429895345.
